Great little Camera, Picture Quality is superb, worth a lot more than what it did cost, will be buying more for all the Family, great for MSN, and Skype, nifty scroll wheel for the LED lights, if you need a great web Cam, then look no further, worth 10/10

Bought this to replace a Linksys/Cisco Giga Switch which after being purchased new stopped working after two weeks and failed to be repaired by Linksys after 2 months. Urgent purchase of Netgear and it was shipped next day, plugged in and worked first time and hasn't stopped working since.

I run a small network of about a dozen machines that need to connect to the internet, a central server and a few printers. I'm not after cutting-edge speeds and performance, I just need to plug and go.

With the GS116, that's exactly what you get. Plug it into the mains, plug the ethernet cables in and watch the lights go on, your network establish itself and you don't have to do anything else. (The ethernet cable to the internet router goes in one socket (I use socket 1 for this so I know which it is) and the computers and printers go in the others and everything just works.)

You'll forget about the switch as it sits in the corner doing it's job, and it doesn't make much noise as it gets on with things. I've used Netgear products before and this is another fine example of a cheap, solid product that does exactly what it says on the box - no fuss, no mess, no problems.

If you're in the market for a reasonably quiet, reliable switch, then try the GS116.

This carry bag is ideal for a 17" laptop. Plenty of room for laptop in bag and well padded. Convenient outside pocket for storage of electrical cable ect and smaller pockets inside for smaller items. Recommend this for those wanting a case that will fit a 17" laptop.

A good little webcam, 16 Dec 2010

There's no doubt about it - this is a great webcam backed up by superfast and very-eager-to-please service.

Why only four stars, then?

The webcam comes with a handy page of instructions, written by the seller, boxed in what seems to be custom-made packaging, which has no clue as to the camera's manufacturer other than it is 'made in China'. My box was a bit the worse for wear, and had been repaired at the bottom with brown gaffer tape before the whole thing was sealed in a blue plastic cover. Just as well, as the postman simply left the package out in the snow.

Once plugged in, the camera was immediately recognised by Windows Vista as an Altair Vimicro USB Camera, which seems to be at odds with the clear Logicam logo on the base of the webcam itself. If it really is a Logitech product, why not use the name in the marketing?

There was also some confusion as to whether the webcam supplied was actually the one advertised, as some illustrations showed the camera to have built-in lights, and there is a large button on top of the webcam which seemed to have no function other than to go 'click'.

I emailed the seller and got an almost instant response explaining that the webcam came in two versions: one with and one without a CD. The button provided enhanced functionality in the version that had the CD.

The ring base of the camera can be used as a simple stand, or split apart to provide a clip for attaching to the top of a laptop screen or computer monitor. This works reasonably well, unless you have a CRT monitor or a backlit flat screen with a bezel depth greater than about 25mm (1 inch). The stand will accommodate larger depths, but then has no grip. A lump of BluTack will do the trick, here.

One thing to be aware of, which also applies to a lot of other webcams. The composite lead, providing a USB plug and a stereo microphone lead, is not very long. If you are using a desktop computer, unless it is sitting next to your monitor you may, like me, have to plug the USB connector into a hub, and use a male to female extension cable for the microphone. Seems a bit odd that it should need to be a stereophonic cable, though.

All in all, this is indeed a very good webcam. The images and sound are very clear, and it adjusts to ambient lighting automatically very well. The focus ring around the lens allows for sharp adjustment.

However, with the huge choice of webcams on the market, it does seem a tad overpriced (including postage) for a camera that claims no branded provenance.

Excellent Product, 19 July 2010

I purchased this webcam to use on Skype.Knowing absolutely nothing about webcams I had to rely on the reviews for this particular product.

The reviews were spot on. It is an excellent little camera, neat, well designed and with a built in mic. It was perfect for my needs.

Both picture and sound quality are excellent and when I contacted the company as I couldn't work out how to fit it onto the monitor (having a dumb day) they were extremely helpful and e-mailed pictures to show me how to do it.

I would highly recommend both the camera and the company.

Netgear defines quality when it comes network switches(at a fair price).

I've not come across another company that has set customer expectations as follows: "your network will be up and running in 10-15mins". From opening the package to connecting 5 network units took less than 7 mins and all worked fine first time. No noise, no fans, auto senses 100Mb and Gb network devices, gets a bit warm but nothing to worry about; could not be happier.

Only negative is that it worked so well so quickly, I just did not get enough time to play with it. Had four computers accessing a storage device, the transfer rates were excellent, the switch took everything I threw at it - certainly proved it was not going to be the weakest link on the network.

Definitely recommend this product!

After continued attempts to find a case for my 17.3" Packard Bell laptop I found this product and must say its perfect. Not only does it fit with room, it also costs a lot less than buying from a high-street retailer and the delivery is great, quick and arrives in perfect conditions. I would recommend this just to try as it is great value for money.
